Everything useful before you download or buy.
Record every check you run on a dataset, and see in one place whether it can be trusted.
An Excel workbook with one row per check: the table and column, the dimension (completeness, uniqueness, validity, consistency or timeliness), the rule in plain words, and the SQL that counts the rows that break it. Type the counts; the pass rate and a Pass, Watch or Fail status fill themselves in against the threshold you set.
The Scorecard sheet adds the checks up by dimension and by table, with the lowest pass rate and the rows affected, so you can say before any number goes into a report what was excluded or fixed.
It comes filled in with twelve real checks on the agricultural dataset from Can I Trust This Data?, including the SQL for each: duplicates, impossible values, country names that do not match the master list, undated prices and data that is years old. Delete them and start your own.
XLSX for Excel, LibreOffice or Google Sheets. Formulas only, no macros.
