Compare two sources of the same figures line by line, and give every difference a named reason.
An Excel workbook for reconciliations. One row per figure: the key, what it measures, the unit and the figure from each source. The difference, the % difference and a status fill themselves in: Match, Within tolerance (an amount, a percentage or both) or Break. Each break gets an explanation, an owner and a resolved flag.
The Summary sheet counts the lines, matches and breaks, adds up the size of the breaks and of those still open, and lists the five largest. The Control totals sheet checks that every table arrived whole and that each cleaning step ties to the one before, then ties the parts (departments, months, buckets) to the total of the whole table.
It comes filled in with Clearstone's receivables from Follow the Money, as of 1 January 2027: the invoices labelled Overdue (324, €8,332,276) against the invoices unpaid and past due by their dates (159, €4,015,590), by aging bucket, with every difference named. The department budgets tie to the grand total to the euro. Every figure comes from DuckDB on the dataset, and the query is on the Start here sheet.
XLSX for Excel or LibreOffice, 4 sheets. Formulas only, no macros.
